Holland Festival premieres new Op de Beek work
Visual artist Hans Op de Beek has confirmed that he will premiere his new work at this year's Holland Festival on May 31st.
His latest creation, entitled Location (6), will be installed at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam and will no doubt attract the interest of artisans visiting this renowned cultural European destination.
However, this latest work from the artist is rumoured to be in complete contrast to the predecessor Location (5) installed in the Hagues Municipal Museum in 2004.
According to E-Flux, the new sculptural installation in Amsterdam allows spectators to view an imaginary snowy landscape through a panoramic window at the end of a hallway.
But in true Op de Beek style, this latest installation draws on the artists focus on barren, lifeless open spaces.
The exhibition will be open from noon until 10:30pm at the former gas works, which now functions as a cultural centre.
Amsterdam's Holland Festival is the country's largest international performing arts festival and runs from May 31st to June 22nd.
