More sing Copenhagens praises

Spending 48 hours in what has recently been voted "the world's most liveable city" is Ruth Elkins of the Independent, and she names it as a place that may be small, but "thinks big".

Strolling along the streets and "pretty canals" are the order of the day for those visiting in the summer, Ms Elkins says, and with its good flight connections from all across the UK, now is the perfect time to make a trip.

Although small, Copenhagen is in fact the largest city in Scandinavia, and has a whole host of things to do for those even staying for a short amount of time.

Visiting Europe's oldest (and still functioning) observatory is one option, as is spending a few hours at the Danish Design Centre at HC Andersens Boulevard.

For shopping make sure to get in early, as Ms Elkins notes that many shops close at three or four pm on a Saturday, and only open the first Sunday of the month.

Don't let it stop you though, it's all the more reason to spend the evening out on a Saturday, knowing that Sunday can be a relaxed walk around the sites of one of northern Europe's most tranquil capitals.
