Frances first couple holiday in Riviera

Now, one of the world's most glamorous and powerful couples, Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni have been seen holidaying in the area.

According to Hello! magazine, the couple have been "soaking up the rays and snorkelling on a rocky outcrop" in the Var region of the Riviera.

"Widely recognised as the most peaceful part of the region, it's favoured by those in search of privacy, and Carla's family has a villa close by," the magazine said.

Those looking to emulate France's first couple should head to the village resort of Bromes-les-Mimosas, a restored 16th century town with views of the Mediterranean.

As well as hosting glamorous couples, the destination also has some exciting cultural stop-offs, such as the Musee d'Arts et Histoire, which features the work of local artists.
