Saphir Hotel worst ever
This hotel was booked for my family (2 adults + 3 young children) for 2 nights prior to staying at Disneyland Paris and for 1 night after.
It was chosen as it boasted mini-bar and air conditioning in the rooms. After arrival, I wanted to put some milk in the fridge ready for the children’s breakfast. The mini-bar was locked. When queried, the receptionist stated he did not have access to the key for the mini-bar. The next morning, I asked to be moved to another room as I had by then been told the mini-bar was broken; also the shower door did not close properly, the bathroom door lock was seized, and the air-conditioning unit in the bedroom was not only not working, but had a broken grille with sharp edges.
The receptionist assured us all of the faults would be rectified by our return that evening. After a day in Paris, we returned and put the exhausted children to bed. We then noticed absolutely nothing had been done. At reception, I was then (at 9 o’clock at night, with the children asleep) offered a change of room. The following morning, when I came to check out, I was offered a refund for breakfast. Unfortunately though, we never had breakfast at the hotel. The receptionist said she would talk to her manager and would sort something out for our return 4 days later. When we returned for our final night, not a word was said. When I asked about the problems we had had, we were offered a €15.50 discount for the night we were about to spend. Surprisingly, I declined this offer. I was then offered a 30% discount. I realised nothing more was going to be done, so we went off to our room. This time, there was no mini-bar, no air-conditioning, the shower door was broken again and the mixer tap on the bath was seized. When I went back to reception, I was told to look in the wardrobe for the mini-bar, and the switch for the air-conditioning was on the wall by the bed. I rechecked and neither were there. I telephoned reception who said they would send somebody to the room. The reception manager arrived and told us there were no mini-bars, the air-conditioning only operated in summer (all of the windows in the hotel are locked and cannot be opened), the shower door can be kind of used if you pull the broken middle door over the gap.etc. He said the room was not too warm. He was not the one sleeping there though; five of us were, with no fresh air. He then got very arrogant and stated this was not the Concorde Hotel, it was the Saphir Hotel. If we did not like it, we could get out.
The next morning when we checked out, the receptionist said we had taken a room and two breakfasts. When I pointed out we had not had breakfast, the arrogant manager (this time dressed in jeans and a t-shirt), obnoxiously stated breakfast was part of the package. When I requested they look at my booking which clearly stated breakfast was not included, the receptionist confessed it was her mistake. No apology whatsoever from the manager. This is quite simply the worst hotel we have stayed in. I would strongly recommend the reception manager attend a customer liaison course and learn some manners. Stay away. Dave Stewart.
