Hôtel La Pérouse Reviews...

If you’re going to the playground of the rich and famous, treat yourself to a little luxury. At the Hotel La Perouse you pay 4-star prices, but it’s easy to imagine yourself in a 5-star life.

It has the most perfect position, tucked under the cliffs that lead to the Chateau Gardens, and just around the corner from the old town and the market. The sea views directly in front are of the majestic Bay of Angels, and the long beach curves off to your right.

It is a large, elegant building, recently refurbished, and with a definite emphasis on style. In the 62 rooms, the bathrooms are made from Boticino marble, for example, which perfectly compliments the exquisite décor in the rooms. They are all spacious, well equipped with free Wi-Fi, Flat screen TV, etc. Most have large balconies, with table and chairs, that either overlooks the sea or inland to the gardens.

The nicely styled outdoor pool and terrace are a perfect place to relax away from the crowds on the beach below, with tremendous sea views on one side, and the rugged grey cliffs like a wall behind you. The hotel also offers a gleaming Jacuzzi, Sauna, Solarium, and well-equipped Fitness Centre.

Eating at the Hotel La Perouse, whilst understandably a little pricey, is a joy. The Provencal cuisine is exquisite, and the outdoor terrace setting undeniably stunning. At night it is beautifully lit, and has a magical ambience with the lights of the seafront glittering below you.

For the best views, however, wander up to the roof terrace. This was surprisingly peaceful, as most guests chose to sit around the pool instead. The only negative comment would be about the parking, which although useful was very expensive and has to be pre-booked. Aside from that, it is a wonderful place to stay, perfectly situated, and with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Trevor Claringbold, Travel Writer
