Copenhagen has a population of about 1.2 million, is the capital, and is by far the largest city in Denmark. It was founded in the 11^th century, but many argue that the greatest changes have occurred since the year 2000 when the Oresund bridge was built, connecting the city with Malmo in Sweden creating a conurbation of 2.7 million people on a 50km radius.

Because of its central location in the Nordic region, Copenhagen has about 1.3 million tourists a year, and is seen a major centre of culture, media and sport. Since its integration with Malmo, it’s been somewhat of a boom town with major investments in each of these areas.

Copenhagen has been considered one of the best cities in the world to live in, as well as being one of the most environmentally friendly, with no less than 36% of its inhabitants cycling to work every day. The water in the harbour area is so clean that it can be (and is) swum in.

The weather is pretty similar to that of London – warmer than most Nordic cities.
