Abbey Hotel Dublin Reviews...

I stayed at the Abbey Hotel for one night while on a press visit with Irish Ferries in August 2009. The hotel couldn't be more central, it's just around the corner from the famous Ha'penny Bridge itself and equally close to O'Connel street, so if your arriving by ferry or by any other means it's really easy to find.
There's a large bar area downstairs for the public and guests to use, but at the time of my visit it was closed for renovations. I suspect it's quite apopular spot due to it's location, so if you're in Dublin to party then this could be the hotel for you. If not, you can ask for a room away for the road, as I did, and got a nice quiet room, albeit with no view, which wasn't important actually.
The people at reception were either Australian, Canadian, French or otherwise but all spoke good English and the communication was good at checking in. There is a lift at the hotel but I never used it. On the first floor landing there's a breakfast room which opened at 07:30, which again I didn't use because I left well before that the next morning.
The room itself was very clean, albeit simple with a large double bed and rather hard, but clean pillows. The bathroom was clean but I found it pretty irritating that they removed the bath plug because they obviously wanted you to take a shower instead.
All in all I paid just 45 Euro, which was very reasonable for both the time of year and the standard of the room. Bargain. Gary Phillips, Proprieter, Eurodestination.com
