Go Ryan Air!

I have just comeback from a 2 week stay in Spain August 2011, and the best thing about this holiday was Ryan Air bringing my family back. We had an awful time as we didn't get what we expected. I was one of those people, after all the bad press Ryan Air gets didn't want to fly with Ryan Air but i'm glad i did. I can't understand why so many people moan, just like everything you need to read the t'c's. For a family of 6, our flight to Spain and back cost about £450.00 which i thought was brilliant but i knew anything extra would be more. Ryan Air let you carry free of charge 10kilo's and when going to a hot country that's enough buti did take a few suitcases which which i paid £60 each which was a mistake.

People are always looking for bargians and flying with Ryan Air is a bargain, they get you from A to B on time when going on holiday is what you want, they let you sit where you want on the plane so get in the queue early if you want to sit all together, staff are freindly, prices are reasonably good but they also let you take on board your own food, so make a few sandwiches before you leave. This is a cheap airline with no frills but what do you want from the rest, i would defiantly fly with Ryan Air again and want to thank you for bringing me home on time after we had a terrible time at the resort. GO RYAN AIR!!!!! Nicola Taylor, Leicester (08.08.11)

Low priced nightmare

I had to travel to Brussels and I tried to minimize cost by using RYANAIR instead of a normal flight. As direct flights were not available I tried through Dusseldorf- I used to travel there the last 27 years. I have booked also a train ticket from the “airport” to Brussels 1.5 hours after my estimated arrival. I have paid the priority fee also to be more confortable. At the Larnaca airport passengers with priority pass entered first a corridor at the second floor of the airport and then behind us without any separation the big mass of the other passengers. Going down two floors and a distance of 100m on the airport field gave the opportunity to the other passengers to surpass us. The company is not using two stairs but one. On the front of the aircraft a small metallic stair is coming out of the plane. It takes one passenger at a time and stairs are very narrow- not acceptable for an old person. After I found my sit and stack my laptop case and its small trolley a not polite stewardess came and told me to put my laptop case and its trolley under my sit in order to use the space above sits for other customers suitcases. I refused because only my laptop case was at the nominal size asked by the company and not the rest of overfilled briefcases. She tried to force me with the head of the stewardess but he just removed my small trolley and put it inside the next cabinet. You have to pay for everything even the newspaper. Back at the airport gate after the custom it was no longer mentioned the city of Dusseldorf which is not the real destination but a strange name in German staring with N. They told us that is not the actual Dusseldorf airport. After wards I read these … small details on their site but for someone who had no previous experience was a real surprise. We landed at Wesse 87km away from Dusseldorf. Imagine to book a ticket for Nicosia and land in Limassol. When we got out there was no trains, taxis or buses. They told us that there is a bus for the city center. As I had a train to catch in 1.5 hours and a distance of 87Km to cover I tried to find a taxi. Taxis are arriving at the gate of the airport, leave their passenger and turn to leave before entering the gate. I ran up to them and asked them to take me to Dusseldorf airport- train station. The cost was 136.00eu. I took with me a student who had only 50.00eu on him!!!

My booking for the return was for a week later. As I had finished my work in Brussels I wanted to return earlier even by buying a new ticket. I tried for two days to call the telephone numbers mentioned on the web page. For two days no one replied. I had either the message that there were a lot of Phone calls and they weren’t able to help or no one replied. I tried to send them an email but without result. The questions were typical and the replies also.

I decided to go to the airport which was in Charlois 65km from Brussels. I found the Gare du Midi station for their busses and pais 13eu to go there. It takes one hour. At their airport- only Ryanair lands there was a line of counters-20 wth all windows closed and only one was open with a lady. I was second in the line. The time my turn came there were 20 people behind me. I asked the lady of it was possible to change my ticket and said that it will cost me more than buying a new one. I said then ok. She told me that the price was 150eu. I told her that the price on internet was 111.00eu but she told me that is correct only if you use internet I was afraid no to find a seat the time I will return to Brussels therefore I paid the money. Next to the lay was a large printer. She told me to print the check in paper at my one. I told her that I was in a friend’s apartment who had no printer and she told me that she was not able to print it a day before my flight on the printer next to her and if I had no print-out at my arrival I will have to pay a fine of 40.00eu. Anyway I spend the whole day to find somewhere to print my ticket voucher and of course 13.00eu to go back to Brussels. The day of my trip all people was really concerned for their suitcases. The balance to weight the suitcases was broken and everybody was transferring personal things from one suitcase to the other. I travel for 30 years and that stressful image was new for me.

I WOULD NEVER advise anyone to use this airline. If you count everything does not worth it. LESS IS MORE.

It cost me more than 100 euros than a normal ticket.

Warning when booking online

Flyers be warned those of you who use the online service of Ryanair. They have a system called manage my booking but take care as you may add anything to this but you will not be able remove anything so take great care. Our experience has just cost us £60 which even writing to Ryanair has not resolved as they say it is not Ryanair's policy to refund !!!

Beware of Passport Check

I flew Ryanair last weekend and had the worst experience that I have ever had with an airline (and i've been flying frequently for a VERY long time). First, yes, the flights are cheap even though they hit you up with so many hidden fees, BUT that is not an excuse for the poor customer service that is experienced by many Ryanair customers. I arrived at Luton airport an hour before my flight with my mandatory printed online check in ticket (that cost 5 pounds on top of some other unknown 5 pound charge), and quickly made my way up through security and to my gate with no problem. I sat there for 30 min before someone came along to do what I assumed was the passport check, as she was checking everyones passports. When I handed her my boarding pass, she informed me that I was supposed to get a stamp from the passport check ahead of time, and pointed to the fine print that said so. She told me we could be refused boarding without the stamp as we did not hold UK passports (UK travelers do not need this stamp). She said she would see what she could do, and brought me and my group up to the head agent, who told us to take a seat in the corner with another couple that also had the same thing happen. She told us she would call us up shortly.

The plane boarded, and the agent went to shut the door, when I ran up to see why she hadn't helped us and why the doors were closing (being an experienced airline traveler, I know once those doors shut, there is no way to get on that flight). She simply said with her rude attitude, "No your not going to make it on this flight, now please have a seat." They just pushed us and this other couple into the corner and told us to sit there! I was told her if she had just said we needed to get the stamp right away, when the problem first arose, I would have run back through security and could have made it back before the flight closed. She told me once I enter security I cannot leave, then walked away, leaving us sitting in the corner for another half an hour till another agent walked us back through security and to the reservation desk to try to get us on the next flight. There they charged us 100 POUNDS each in a misconnect fee to book us on the next flight. I did not misconnect! I was pushed to the side and ignored by Ryanair. The agent told me this happens to several people every flight! So why doesn't Ryanair do anything about it? Because thats how they make all their money! They made over 1,000 pounds on this "fee" just in the 2 flights i've taken on them. I've witnessed this happen to 5+ other people outside my group. This is a scam to get more money out of us. Jack

Ryanair are good shock!

I fly with Ryan Air about 6 or 7 times a year. They are cheap on time and have modern and safe aircraft. I get fed up with people moaning about their flight when they have paid £20 for it. If you dont like it fly with someone else! Mike Smith, UK

Thankyou

Flew with Ryanair at very short notice for a family funeral and booked flight wrongly in my haste. When discovered, I contacted Ryanair and spoke with Amy who corrected the mistake and kept the cost as low as possible. Ryanair gets bad press, but I have flown with them many times and have had no major problems - other than ones that were my responsbility!!! Mary, Scotland

Whats there to moan about?

February 2009, took my wife son and future daughter in law to Dublin for the day. Flight out 7.30am return 8pm, both planes on time, spotless and cheap 1p each way + £10 card charges £40.40p for four of us, paid £34 to park my car in London today, how can we moan about Ryanair?

Just to prove its not a one off, Birmingham to Prague March 09, £4 each + card charge, both flights on time, Birmingham to Krakow June 09, both flights on time £20 each inc card charge, god bless Michael O'Leary and his tin pot airline. John Hill, Birmingham.

Belfast - Prestwick

For £14.00 return, all in, my wife & I travelled to Scotland last week. We took only hand luggage and were rewarded with priority boarding. Combined with on-line check-in I found the service really good and ridiculously cheap.

Overall experience: Great!

Improve Priority Booking

I recently experienced (to my horror) a return Ryan Air flight between Stansted and Bergamo.

Upon checking-in, we were encouraged to purchase an upgrade of "Priority Tickets" that would allow us first entry on to the plane and thereby guarantee an early option of seating. I then went to the prescribed queue and had to queue for app. 40 minutes before being allocated a yellow "priority" sticker on to my flight ticket. There was no apparent organisation at the final check-in desk and when opened I had to just simply push my way to the front to brandish my ticket.

Upon the return flight from Bergamo, this was considerably worse. A "PB" was written on our tickets by the girl at baggage check-in and when in the departures lobby, a queue began to form for boarding the plane some 40 minutes before necessary which stretched app. 80 yards. When it came to announce the flight, there was a garbled inaudible message in broken english about boarding commencement which failed to make any statement about priority tickets being seen to first! Again, I had to push my way to the front of the queue which met to much criticism and abuse from other passengers (without any form of priority) and it was totally embarrassing for myself and my wife. We were asked such things as "So where is your yellow priority sticker to prove you have a priority ticket?". We then proceeded to be herded on to a bus with other passengers without priority who, when arriving at the plane, simply pushed and knocked their way to the front of the steps without any consideration to those with priority tickets.

RECOMMENDATION - if you ARE going to run a priority service, why oh why can you not administer it to offer the service that I assume you intend to give to such passengers? Why was it not made clear at time of boarding to call for and to accept ONLY priority ticket holders first and fully ensure that these passengers were dealt with appropriately. We were made to feel guilty for buying these tickets simply because there was no-one on hand to manage the process adequately. I am totally dissatisfied with the way we were treated and the inadequacies of the system.

Overall Experience: A Disaster!
