Things to do in Esbjerg

Esbjerg Town Square

Back in 1868, when the western half of Denmark was seen as far-flung and desolate, the decision was made to establish a port at Esbjerg. Since then the city has grown to be Denmark’s fifth biggest due mostly to the shipping business but also because of local agriculture.

You are most likely to be a visitor of Esbjerg via the DFDS service from Harwich aboard the “Dana Sirena”. You may be just passing through, but take half a day to look around this historical port and you’ll find a calm, attractive and civilised town.

Esbjerg Water Tower

The Esbjerg Water Tower

Occupying the highest spot in Esbjerg, (there can't be many) the Water Tower was the only source water for the town due to its isolation. It remains as a popular landmark and tourist attraction.
