Reaching Scandinavia from the UK by ferry is now only possible via the Harwich to Esbjerg Route operated by DFDS Seaways. DFDS used to operate a route from Newcastle to Oslo, but this was discontinued in 2008.
The Harwich Esbjerg route is served by the Dana Sirena, a cruise ferry that has reviews at this page on our site.
Harwich is a two hours drive from central London via the A12, but use the map below to work out how far it is from where you live. If you need to park at the port, you need only turn up and use the secure parking in front the terminal which is priced at £7.50 per 24 hours.
You can reach Harwich from London Liverpool Street station in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. To catch the ferry you need to catch the 14:18 train which would get you to Harwich with enough time to check in. There is little walking to do as the train arrives at the foot of the terminal, where the escalator, and lifts if needed, will take you right to the check in area. We advise you book in advance as peak fares double from the usual £26 charged at the time of writing. We find Thetrainline.com pretty good.
